DESCRIPTION:89th Louisiana Shrimp and Petroleum Festival kicks off Labor Day Weekend! \nWe honor the two industries that built our community during a five-day celebration! Our 89th Louisiana Shrimp and Petroleum Festival will take place Thursday\, August 29th through Monday\, September 2nd. Come enjoy the oldest state-chartered harvest festival in Louisiana! \nOn Thursday\, August 29th from 5-9pm\, our 89th Louisiana Shrimp and Petroleum Festival kicks off! The official ribbon cutting is at 5:15pm on Second Street under the U.S. 90 bridge. \nThe Mitchell Brothers Amusement rides and games will begin at 5:00pm on Thursday and continue through Monday\, September 2nd at 9:00pm. \nThe 60th Labor Day Art Show & Sale by Everett Street Gallery from 1:00pm to 5:00pm on Friday and 11am-5pm on Saturday to Monday. \nAnnual Cajun Culinary Classic will be from 5:00pm to 11:00pm on Friday and from 11:00am-7:00pm from Saturday to Monday. Local non-profit groups\, food vendors\, and civic organizations will benefit from the proceeds. \nThe 47th Arts & Crafts Show & Sale begins Friday\, August 30th at 5:00pm under the U.S. 90 bridge. The event features artists and crafters mostly from south Louisiana with unique merchandise and artistic masterpieces for sale. \nThe Music Heritage Stage will have live music on Friday\, August 30th from 5:30pm-11pm\, on Saturday from 11:30am-11pm\, on Sunday from 12pm to 11pm\, and on Monday! \nMusic Heritage Stage\, Music Line Up:\nFriday\, August 30\, 2024\n5:30PM – 8:30PM – Cliff Hillebran & Sidepiece Band\n9:00PM – 11:00PM – Swampland Revival \nSaturday\, August 31\, 2024\n11:30AM – 2:30PM – Gospel Music in the Park\n3:00PM – 5:00PM – Caleb Lapeyrouse & The Drivers\n5:30PM – 7:00PM – Centro Norento\n7:30PM – 9:00PM – Deep Water Rehab\n9:30PM – 11:00PM – Kings of Neon \nSunday\, September 1\, 2024\n12:00PM – 1:00PM – Rick Lorenzo\n1:30PM – 3:30PM – Cajun Roots\n4:00PM – 6:00PM – Justin Cornett Band\n6:30PM – 8:30PM – Snapper & The Fishsticks\n9:00PM – 11:00PM – Yeah You Right \nMonday\, September 2\, 2024\n12:00PM – 2:00PM – Left on Red\n2:30PM – 4:30PM – Soulshine\n5:00PM – 7:00PM – South 70 \nPetro Pit will also take place this year. You can purchase tickets for this event for $50.00 per day for Friday and Monday\, $65.00 for Saturday and Sunday and $150.00 for the weekend. You’ll gain access to exclusive events\, reserved area with tented seating close to the music stage\, cash bar\, private restrooms\, and so much more! \nThe Children’s Day Mini Street Parade will begin at City Hall at 11am on Saturday\, August 31st. Decorated bicycles\, wagons\, strollers and four wheelers are welcome to participate. Registration begins the day of at 10:00am in front of City Hall. \nThe Children’s Village will officially open with a ribbon-cutting ceremony by our 89th Louisiana Shrimp and Petroleum Festival Royal Court on Saturday\, August 31st at 1:00pm\, The Children’s Village is a playland featuring games\, prizes\, face-painting and more. This event is free to all children. The Children’s Village will be open until 5:00pm. It will be open on Sunday but will close during the Street Parade at 3 pm then reopen. \nMass in the Park will be on Sunday\, September 1st 8:30 am. The community will give thanks for its blessings at the Mass in the Park. It will be celebrated under the oaks in Lawrence Park and is open to the public. \nMorgan City Rotary Club will be selling pancakes at the corner of Everett and 2nd Street after Mass in the Park on Sunday\, as well as during the Blessing of the Fleet and Water Parade. Tickets will be $10. Contact a Rotary Member to purchase tickets. \nThe Krewe of Dionysus will also be serving Bloody Marys and Mimosas in the park from 9:30am to 11:30pm on Sunday. \nThe Historic Blessing of the Fleet will begin at 10am on Sunday on the Atchafalaya River from the Berwick docks and is followed by the water parade featuring decorated shrimp boats\, pleasure crafts\, offshore supply boats and some of the biggest “muscle” boats of the offshore industry including supply boats\, crew boats and tugboats. A Certificate of Blessing and a prayer card of St. Brendan the Navigator\, patron Saint of Seafarers will be presented to each participant. \nThe Street Parade will begin at the corner of Second and Onstead streets at 3:00pm on Sunday featuring past and present royalty along with this year’s maids and their pages\, as well as visiting queens from various festivals throughout the state.
