SUMMARY:2nd Annual Geaux Paddle Youth Workshop
DESCRIPTION:Hosted by T.E.C.H.E. Projects.\nCome explore Bayou Teche with us and learn about water safety\, paddling\, native plants\, recycling and more.\n“Geaux Paddle” recreation program is offering paddling opportunities for kids ages 10-14 on Bayou Teche.\nThe goal of Geaux Paddle is to get kids who have never paddled comfortable with paddling and then out enjoying Bayou Teche\,\nthe first National Water Trail in Louisiana! This program will include safety instruction\, an experiment on water testing\,\npaddle to New Iberia City Park\, and an art project with Margaret Simon.\nThe paddle portion will also teach about wood duck boxes and the importance of providing safe nest sites for reproduction;\neducation on flora and fauna and the importance of native plants; and trash pickup.\nAdvance registration is required. Refunds for cancellations will not be offered after May 17.\nKayaks/canoes\, life jackets\, and drinks will be provided.\nParticipants must bring their own lunch in a waterproof container.\n8:30 a.m.: Arrival at the home of Margaret & Jeff Simon\n9-10 a.m.: Paddle safety instruction & water quality experiment\n10-11:30 a.m.: Paddle to New Iberia City Park\n11:30 a.m.-noon: Picnic lunch in City Park (bring your own lunch)\nNoon- 1 p.m.: Found art project in nature.\nPlease email techeproject@gmail.com with any questions or concerns about this workshop.

DESCRIPTION:For 2024 we will be at the Chitimacha Paddling Dock.\n3548 Chitimacha Trail\nCharenton\, La.\nThe series of youth races will be held on the Bayou Teche at the paddle dock in Charenton LA.Registration costs $10 and includes lunch for the youth participants. Boats and paddles are provided\, if needed. You must bring your own PFD.The registration fee allows each paddler to compete in all races in the appropriate age division.The races are from 250 yards to a mile in length\, the races are staged around buoys so that the racers are within view of the park at all times.\nOn-site registration begins at 7:30 a.m.\, safety check at 8 a.m.\, and the first race at 9 a.m.\n\nhttps://www.webscorer.com/register?raceid=359041
