Diving & ROV Historical Preservation
111 First St Morgan City, LA 70380
Our host is the Mr. Charlie Rig Musuem. This interactive museum of Diving and Underwater Remotely Operated vehicles, ROV's, is the only place in the world where you can see equipment from these two industries in the same place. Morgan City is rich in history of companies and individuals unique to this industry. Our small community located near the Gulf of Mexico is a hot bed of expertise and legends in the world of Diving and Remotely Operated Vehicles. A small local company with the grandiose name of worldwide Divers founded in Morgan City in 1964. It is a tremendous success story. They morphed into and are still around today as Oceaneering International and are the gorilla in the corner in the diving and ROV industry. Still working out of Morgan City. There were divers who were inventors of diving equiptment and tools used worldwide even today. ROV, Remotely Operated Vehicles, have taken over the work of divers in the oilfields around the worlds, as the water depth has increased beyond the practical depth's for diving. The Diving and ROV Historical Preservation Museum was started to preserve this rich histroy, and to shout it out to the world. It is intended to be a living breathing museum. Come visit us to see, touch and hear about this amazing history. Tour times vary according to your interest. Donations greatly appreciated.
