19th Annual Cypress Sawmill Festival Slated April 3-5, 2009

Patterson, LA - The Patterson Cypress Sawmill Festival, the Louisiana Association of Fairs & Festival’s 2008 Festival of the Year, will hold its 19th annual celebration at Kemper Williams Park in Patterson, Louisiana, April 3-5, 2009.  This event is a family festival featuring a wide variety of continuous live music, professional lumberjack shows, chainsaw carving, a cypress sawmill display, numerous tournaments, a passé partout (two-person saw) contest, arts and crafts, kids sports camp, a street fair with rides and games, and food and drink booths.  Admission is $10.00 per car per day on Saturday & Sunday, $5.00 per car on Friday only or you can purchase a $20.00 weekend pass.

The festival begins at 11:00 a.m., Friday, April 3 with the Fourth Annual Cypress Sawmill Golf Tournament.  Twenty-five teams of four players will compete at the Atchafalaya Golf Course at Idlewild in Patterson.  Awards will be given at 5:00 p.m. The Arts & Crafts vendors will begin showcasing their wares at 3:00 p.m. At 5:00 p.m., the Street Fair, provided by Mitchell Bros. Amusement, food & drink vendors, Amazon Jungle, Rock Climbing & Bungee Jump, the Old Engine Display and Souvenir Booth will open. Country Showdown playing from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m., followed by Johnny Firmin & Company will perform from 9:30 p.m. – 11:30 p.m.

Saturday, April 4th  will feature the softball and horseshoe tournaments, a fun walk, a Cypress Sawmill Display, located in the Louisiana State Museum, Zoo~Zoom- a free petting zoo, the judging of the  Annual Gumbo Cook off and a variety of music including Cajun, Country, Swamp Pop and a blend of funk, R&B, and pop & rock.  Bands for the day include Vince Anthony & The Blue Notes - Noon to 2:30 p.m., TK Hulin & Smoke – 3:00 to 6:30 p.m., Bobby & The Rockers – 6:30 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. and Souled Out – 9:30 p.m. to 11:30 a.m.  At 9:00 p.m., there will be a fireworks show & salute honoring the past and present law enforcement, firefighters, paramedics and emergency personnel.

Sunday’s activities begin with the 18th Annual Classic Car & Truck Display at 8:00 a.m. The motorcycle Poker Run will begin at 9:00 a.m. 2008 Festival Royalty will be announced at 11:30 a.m., and the Queen’s passé partout (two-person saw contest) will begin at 2:00 p.m. Sunday's musical line up includes Amanda Shaw & The Cute Guys – 12:30 to 2:30 p.m., Joel Martin & da’ Classics with Charlo – 3:00 to 5:30 p.m. and Don Rich & The Don Rich Bank – 6:00 to 8:00 p.m.
