5th annual Brittany’s Project – March 18-19, 2016 - 323 Oaklawn Bridge Approach Road, Franklin – Car show, rat rod races, sled pulls, mud pit, burn outs, princess party, face painting, pony rides, bands and more.

2nd annual Irish-Italian Parade – March 19, 2016 - Festivities start at 11 a.m. with a parade down Second Street in Morgan City and will end with food, music and dancing in front of Café JoJo’s on Front Street. It’s followed this year by Porch Fest from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the Gazebo in Lawrence Park.

26th annual Cypress Sawmill Festival – April 1-3, 2016 - Kemper Williams Park in Patterson. A Top 20 Southeast Tourism Society event, this festival is a family event featuring continuous live music, a cypress sawmill display, numerous tournaments, a passe partout contest, arts and crafts, Cajun cook-off, rides and games and more.

Rhythms on the River – April 1, 8, 15, 22, 29, May 6, 13, 20 & 27, 2016 – weekly live music series held every Friday evening each spring for nine weeks from 6:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. on Front Street in Morgan City.

Cabela’s King Kat Fishing Tournament – April 9, 2016 – 6:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the Atchafayala River Basin in Morgan City. Weigh-in at 4 p.m. at Jesse Fontenot Memorial Boat Landing in Berwick.

Kids Fishing Rodeo – April 9, 2016 – presented by Crappie USA & Cabela’s King Kat Trail for kids 12 & under in conjunction with King Kat Tournament from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. at Lake End Park in Morgan City. Sign up is 8 a.m. to 9 a.m.

7th annual Bayou Teche Wooden Boat Show – April 15-17, 2016 – held on the banks of Bayou Teche in Parc sur la Teche in Franklin in conjunction with Bayou Teche Black Bear Festival. View a collection of antique and newly built watercraft.

13th annual Bayou Teche Black Bear Festival – April 15-16, 2016 – held in downtown Franklin to raise awareness about threatened Louisiana Black Bears, this festival features live music, arts and crafts, boat trips into the Bayou Teche National Wildlife Refuge.

National Travel and Tourism Week – May 1-7, 2016 – Lt. Gov. Billy Nungesser will visit the Cajun Coast Visitors & Convention Bureau’s Morgan City office on his Statewide Media Tour May 3, 2016 at 3:30 p.m. for a press conference.

2nd annual ALR Freedom Fest – May 28-29, 2016 – Pay tribute to veterans each Memorial Day weekend at the Lake Palourde Judge’s Stand, located off La. 70 in Morgan City. This festival features live music, vendor and food booths, children’s activities, the 14th annual Freedom Ride and more.

Blues & Brews Homebrew Festival – June 11, 2016 – Live blues and jazz music, sample homebrew beers made in Louisiana, compete in the homebrew competition and taste seafood dishes from downtown restaurants in Morgan City.

Franklin Art Walk – June 11, 2016 – Held on Main Street in Franklin, this family-friendly event hosts local and regional visual artists and published authors at downtown businesses for an afternoon of refined entertainment. Held 3 p.m. to 6 p.m.

Rock the 3rd – July 3, 2016 – Music, food and fireworks from 1 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. in downtown Morgan City as Independence Day is celebrated.

5th annual Bayou BBQ Bash – July 22-23, 2016 – International Barbecue Cookers Association’s competition for Best Corporate BBQ Cooking Team in Louisiana also features arts & crafts booths, a kids’ zone, live music, ATV show and a kids’ BBQ competition.

81st annual Louisiana Shrimp & Petroleum Festival – September 1-5, 2016 – Five days of free, live music in Morgan City’s downtown Lawrence Park, a gospel stage, street parade, water parade with the Blessing of the Fleet in Berwick Bay, great Cajun food, street fair, fireworks, arts and crafts, fine art show and sale, children’s village and more for the entire family in Morgan City’s Downtown Historic District.

DSRA Drag Boat Racing – September 24-25, 2016 – Russo’s Landing, Morgan City - Outboard power racers gather at some of the South’s premier waterways to showcase their skills in drag boat racing.

Tour du Teche/ Berwick Lighthouse Fest – Oct. 7-9, 2016 – Experience a 135-mile, three-stage canoe and kayak race through Cajun Country, from Port Barre to Berwick. Finish line in Berwick is highlighted by a festival featuring arts and crafts, live music, Cajun food, historic presentations and more. and

Harvest Moon Festival – October 29, 2016 – Welcome fall with all-day festivities on Franklin’s charming Main Street, featuring live entertainment, concessions, children’s activities, arts & crafts, a 5K run/walk and a classic car show.

Franklin Children’s Art Walk – December 10, 2016 – 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. in downtown Franklin. Details to be announced.

Christmas on the Cajun Coast – December 1-25, 2016 – The Cajun Coast towns of Morgan City, Patterson and Franklin celebrate the season with a trail of lights, historic houses decorated in holiday finery, parades, an arts and crafts show and sale, concerts and more. Visit for a complete schedule.
