Rhythms on the River Live Music Series Opens April 1 in Morgan City, LA

            MORGAN CITY, LA - Local favorite Don Rich opens Morgan City’s Rhythms on the River live music series April 1, 2016.

Rhythms on the River performances takes place in historic downtown Morgan City on Front Street between Everett and Freret streets for nine weeks every Friday evening beginning after Easter each Spring. Each week’s live performance is held from 6:30 to 9:30 pm.

This year’s line-up includes live performances by Don Rich, Jamie Bergeron, South 70, Will Cooper & Southern Groove, Side Show, Krossfyre, Louisiana Soul Survivors, Nik L Beer and Déjà Vu.

            Don Rich kicks off this year’s “Rhythms on the River” with a performance on April 1. Don Rich, a Pierre Part, LA native, has been playing music for over 42 years and enjoys bringing authentic Cajun swamp pop to crowds across Louisiana.

            The second performance of the season is Jamie Bergeron on April 8 with a lively performance of Cajun/Zydeco music along the river.

South 70, a seven-piece band all born in south Louisiana, will take the stage April 15. South 70 will get your toes tapping to a mixture of Zydeco, swamp pop, Cajun, country and more! One of their biggest enjoyments is watching people dance to their music!

On April 22, Will Cooper and Southern Groove take to the Rhythms on the River stage. With members hailing from Westwego and Houma, the four-member band provides music for all occasions.

Side Show Band performs their brand of swamp pop, oldies and funk April 29. Hailed as Acadiana’s favorite variety band, Side Show will sweep you back to memories of the 70s and 80s with their tunes.

Featuring their R&B, funk and hip hop sound, Krossfyre, hailing from Lafayette, LA, will entertain on the Rhythms on the River Stage May 6.

Louisiana Soul Survivors bring a mixture of funk, pop, and rock & soul to the stage May 13. Louisiana Soul Survivors is an eight-member band from the Houma-Thibodaux area.

The eighth performance of the season is by Nik L Beer on May 20. Boasting a repertoire that consists of music from the 1950s through the 1990s, line dances, country, Louisiana specials, blues and soul, the band caters to all tastes.

Déjà Vu follows on May 27, closing out the nine-week music series. This five-piece band calls south Louisiana home and has a diverse musical background making them the perfect variety cover band. They will entertain the crowd with Motown, country, disco, rock, 80s, 90s and dance music.

“Rhythms on the River” is FREE outdoor entertainment presented by Morgan City Main Street and sponsored by Café Jo Jo’s, who will be offering food and drink concessions, the St. Mary Parish Chamber of Commerce and the Cajun Coast Visitors & Convention Bureau.
