Louisiana Shrimp & Petroleum Festival – 89th

Mass in the Park. The community will give thanks for its blessings at the Mass in the Park at 8:30 a.m. Sunday, September 1st.  It will be celebrated under the oaks in Lawrence Park and is open to the public.

Morgan City Rotary Club will be selling pancakes at the corner of Everett and 2nd Street after Mass in the Park and during the Blessing of the Fleet and Water Parade. Tickets will be $10. Contact a Rotary Member to purchase tickets.

The Krewe of Dionysus will also be serving Bloody Marys and Mimosas in the park from 9:30AM – 11:30PM.

The Historic Blessing of the Fleet will begin at 10 a.m. on the Atchafalaya River from the Berwick docks and is followed by the water parade featuring decorated shrimp boats, pleasure crafts, offshore supply boats and some of the biggest “muscle” boats of the offshore industry including supply boats, crew boats and tugboats. A Certificate of Blessing and a prayer card of St. Brendan the Navigator, patron Saint of Seafarers will be presented to each participant.

60th Labor Day Art Show & Sale,  Everett Street Gallery. Hours to view the exhibit during the festival, 11:00AM to 5:00PM.

Annual Cajun Culinary Classic,  Sunday, 11:00AM to 11:00PM. Local non-profit groups, food vendors, and civic organizations benefit from the proceeds.

The 47th Arts & Crafts Show & Sale, 11 am to 10 pm. The event features artists and crafters mostly from south Louisiana with unique merchandise and artistic masterpieces for sale.

The Children’s Village will officially open with a ribbon-cutting ceremony by our 89th Louisiana Shrimp and Petroleum Festival Royal Court on Sunday, September 1, 2024, The Children’s Village is a playland featuring games, prizes, face-painting and more. This event is free to all children. The Children’s Village will be open until 5 pm. but closed during Street Parade at 3 pm.

Petro Pit will also take place this year. This event is an exclusive V.I.P section located in Lawrence Park.  Tickets for this event are available.

The Street Parade will begin at the corner of Second and Onstead streets at 3:00PM featuring past and present royalty along with this year’s maids and their pages and visiting queens from various festivals throughout the state. Registration is open for parade participants. Visit our website or contact the office for more information.

Fireworks on the River will begin at 9:00PM Sunday evening. Grab a spot in Lawrence Park, on top of the seawall or on the La. 182 bridge and enjoy the spectacular fireworks. Tune your radio to 95.3 KQKI to listen to the synchronized
