Traveling Relic of St. John Paul II

The Diocese of Houma-Thibodaux will welcome a first-class relic of St. John Paul II for several days of prayer and veneration September 18-21. The relic will be at Holy Cross on Friday, September 18 for 5:30 Mass and Veneration from 6:30-9:30 PM.

The traveling relic contains the liquefied blood of St. John Paul II and is the only relic of its kind in the United States. The relic is a small glass vial mounted on an ornate book resembling an open lectionary. The relic is one of four relics containing the liquefied blood of St. John Paul II and the only one designated as a pilgrim relic. It has been made available by the Sisters of the Servants of the Pierced Hearts of Jesus and Mary, who have custody of the relic from the Holy See.
