This year marks a major milestone as we celebrate 90 years of honoring the industries that built our community with Louisiana’s oldest state-chartered harvest festival! The 90th Annual Louisiana Shrimp & Petroleum Festival takes place Thursday, August 28th through Monday, September 1st, 2025 in historic downtown Morgan City. Join us for five days filled with culture, tradition, food, music, and family fun on the beautiful Atchafalaya River.
The festivities kick off on Thursday, August 28th with the official Ribbon Cutting Ceremony at 4pm in Downtown Morgan City. Carnival rides begin that evening, with Pay-One-Price armbands available to keep the fun going all weekend long.
On Friday, August 29th, the festival comes alive with arts and crafts vendors, Artist Guild, and the return of the beloved Cajun Culinary Classic. Carnival rides continue and live music in the park sets the tone for a fun-filled weekend (full music schedule coming soon).
Saturday, August 30th brings even more excitement with the Children’s Parade, the opening of the Children’s Village, and ongoing festivities including the Cajun Culinary Classic, Artist Guild, carnival rides, and more music in the park.
On Sunday, August 31st, start your day with Mass in the Park under the oaks in Lawrence Park, followed by the Rotary Pancake Breakfast. One of the most cherished festival traditions, the Blessing of the Fleet and Water Parade, will take place on the Atchafalaya River and feature decorated shrimp boats, pleasure crafts, and offshore supply vessels. The fun continues with more Children’s Village activities, Cajun cuisine, carnival rides, and a lively street parade. Cap off the evening with Fireworks on the River!
The celebration wraps up on Monday, September 1st with arts and crafts, the Artist Guild, a special 90th Anniversary Exhibit, the Cajun Culinary Classic, and a final day of carnival rides with Pay-One-Price wristbands. Music will continue in the park as we close out a weekend to remember.
To make this year’s celebration even more interactive, Cajun Coast Tourism is also launching a special Festival Photo Bingo challenge. Pick up a bingo card at the Cajun Coast Visitor Center, or download it online. Complete your card by capturing photos that match each square and submit your entry by August 25th for a chance to win $300 in cash, ride bracelets, Petro Pit tickets, and more.
