Festival season is blooming on the Cajun Coast, and the calendar is packed with events you won’t want to miss. Whether you’re craving live music or local eats, May is your month to dance, eat, and soak up the culture of South Louisiana.
First up: the Swamp Pop Festival, happening May 2nd through May 3rd at Mama G’s Bar & Grill. This two-day celebration is packed with food, crafts, a 50/50 raffle, and live auctions benefiting a local nonprofit. Friday night features live music from Caleb Lapeyrouse & The Drivers from 6pm-7pm and Swampland Revival with Cliff Hillebran from 7:30pm-9:30pm. Saturday keeps the rhythm going with Soulshine from 11am-12pm, Justin Cornett Band from 12:30pm-2:30pm, and Brad Sapia Band from 3pm-5pm. Grab a plate, hit the dance floor, and soak up the soul of South Louisiana.
Bayou Teche Black Bear Festival!
Celebrate the Bayou Teche Black Bear Festival on May 3rd from 8am-5pm. Hosted by the Franklin Merchant’s Association, we are excited to join the festival with the Bayou to Main Marketplace, with vendors set up on the Bayou side for Spring Shopping! There will be a 5k Running of the Bears, The Cajun Greek with the Cast Iron Anything Over Rice Cookoff, Shadowlawn Spring Art Show, Corn Hole Tournament, and Cake Walk! With live music from 10 am until 8pm, pull your houseboat up along the bayou or come on land, and join us for the fun!
And just when you think the weekend couldn’t get any better, the beat goes on at One80 Downtown in Morgan City. On May 3rd from 7pm-10pm, unwind with the acoustic sounds of Joshua Bergeron. Then, mark your calendar for May 30th from 7pm-10pm, when Allie G takes the stage with her signature South Louisiana sound.
So grab your dancing shoes and your festival crew because it’s time to celebrate everything that makes the Cajun Coast come alive!
