The Cajun Coast knows how to celebrate. Whether a festival, a holiday, or weekend fun, there are always fun events to attend! Spooky season is here. If you’re looking for some Halloween fun, check out these family-friendly events on the Cajun Coast.
Morgan City Main Street’s Trunk or Treat:
Join in on the trick-or-treat fun with Trunk or Treat on Saturday, October 21st from 4:00 pm- 6:00 pm! Under the Highway 90 Bridge, you can decorate your trunk and hand out candy! There will be a decorating contest. To sign up, email b.grow@cityofmc.com. There are still spots open to hand out candy and businesses are welcome to join! In past years, 1,500-2,000 children have attended, so if you sign up be ready to have at least 1,500 treats or pieces of candy to share! Get more information.
Harvest Moon Festival:
The Harvest Moon Festival is almost here! On Saturday, October 28th, join in for a jam-packed day of fall fun. For more information, visit the Harvest Moon Event page. Check out the schedule below:
8 am – Teche Action Clinic “Adeliene Guienze” Fun Run/Walk – begins at the SMP Courthouse, corner of Main and Willow Street. 8 am – Bayou Teche Wooden Boat Show – Bayouside at Adams Street. Contact 337-578-3369 to register.
9 am to 1:45 p.m. – Car Show, Courthouse parking lot. Car Parade begins at 2:00 p.m. Registration 8 am to 10 am. $30 per car includes two meal tickets and drinks. Awards at 1:45 pm. Door prizes, 50/50 drawing. Parade through town. Contact Dacia Broussard, 337-578-1037
9 am – Pumpkin Patch & Scarecrow Contest – 719 Main Street, Franklin. Scarecrow contest. Winners announced at 4:15 pm at the band stage.
9 to 4 pm – Vendors along Main Street, Jackson Street to Willow Street -food, arts and crafts, artwork and more.
9 am – Face Painting – Chic & Shabby, 716 Main Street, Franklin.
9:30 am to 12 noon – Sugar Showdown Bake-Off, Cake, Pie, Cookies and Baker’s Choice. $5 per entry. Drop off at the Lamppost, 735 Main Street, Franklin. Winner announced at band stage.
10 am to 2 pm – Classic Car Show, Downtown Main Street, Franklin
12 noon to 3 pm – Corn Hole Tournament, Gather to Main, 617 Main Street, Franklin. $30 per team. Prizes.
1 pm – Pampered Pooch Parade. Line up at 12:45 pm, Four Seasons. $10 per entry. Judged on creativity of costume! Contact 337-967-1789, Belinda and 337-346-1111 Becket to register.
4 pm – Trail Ride & Horse Parade on Main Street
7:15 pm – Sparkle Show, Band Stage
Halloween Family Fun Night with “Truck or Treating”:
Keep the Halloween fun going with Truck or Treating with the Lighthouse Food Truck Court on Monday, October 30th 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm. There will be food, music, and truck or treating throughout the food court! The public can decorate small tables to hand out candy. For more information, visit the information page.
Boo on the Bayou!
The City of Franklin on Tuesday, October 31 from 6-8pm for it’s 5th Annual BOO ON THE BAYOU trunk or treat along the Historic Bayou Teche on Teche Drive. Safe & Family-Friendly!
Beginning Tuesday, September 25 if you, your family, business, church, school, or civic organization would like to take part in this wonderful event please contact Tammy Rogers at (337) 828-6350 to reserve your space. Last year we had upwards of 4,500 people attend.
We are asking our community champions who wish to register and give out candy to help us keep the line moving as efficient as possible. As we get closer to the event we will post the map of the entrance and route.
